Trek Summary
The heroic life of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati (soon to be canonized a saint) is the grounding inspiration for the Verso L’Alto Trek. Blessed Pier Girogio was a man who not only loved our Lord, but found great closeness to him in the mountains. Beginning in 2024, the first year Verso L’Alto trek brought a group of young adults—both nervous and excited—to the heights Colorado’s Rocky Mountains. This second Verso L’Alto Trek will draw young people closer to the life of Blessed Pier Girogio by taking them to his native country, Italy.
Over just two weeks the young people on the Verso L’Alto Trek #2 will not only spend time going to the heights of the awe-inspiring Dolomite mountains, but also get a chance to encounter our Lord in the peace of Assisi, and through the historic treasures of Rome and Vatican City. This could certainly be a truly life changing experience for every young person on the trek. To foster an environment for encounter and community, the size of this trip will be capped at 23 people, including those facilitating the trek (Fr. Paolo, and the Binversie Family). Make your deposit to save your spot on this extraordinary Trek today. Verso L’Alto! (To the Heights!)
Will there be camping on this Trek?
No. Verso L’Alto Trek #1 was centered around an experience of camping in the remote mountain wilderness of Colorado. This trek, the Verso L’Alto Trek #2 will not have any camping. Though, there will be 4 days hiking at high elevation in the Dolomite Mountains of northern Italy. If this sounds awesome but you don’t know anything about hiking or alpinism, then this is the trip for you. The majority of people will have little to no alpine experience so you will be right at home.
Will there be overpriced hotels?
No. Though we will not be camping, there will be nights of sleeping in buildings in a variety of ways. Expect to have nights in beds and on the floor. To keep up the Pier Giorgio adventurous spirit and to keep down the costs of international travel, members of the Verso L’Alto Trek #2 can expect to spend most nights resting soundly with their sleeping mat and sleeping bag.
How do I sign up?
To foster an environment for encounter and community, the size of this trip will be capped at 23 people, including those facilitating the trek. Once the trip is full, it's full. Take advantage of this opportunity while there are still spots.
To reserve your spot bring cash or a check for $200 to the St. John the Baptist parish office with Verso L’Alto and your name in the memo line. Checks can be made out to St. John the Baptist Parish.
Looking forward to having an unforgettable summer experience with you.
Christ’s Peace & Verso L’Alto.

Every day, my love for the mountains grows more and more. If my studies permitted, I’d spend whole days in the mountains contemplating the Creator’s greatness in that pure air.
